The SZA 2026 Annual Awards, for the 2025 achievements, took place on Saturday, 11 April 2025, at The Baron in Kyalami, Gauteng, where we presented the 2025 Dan certificates, SZA colours and league awards.
Congratulations to all the recipients of our Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Amethyst (Online Competition league) League awards and overall kata and kumite trophies!
Shotokan-ZA colours will be awarded by the Organisation to individuals as described below and students must attend a Local Competition (such as the Samurai Inter-Dojo Competition); a Regional Competition (such as the Gauteng Open) and the SZA Nationals.
Level 1: Junior Colours These colours will be awarded to all juniors (under 18) selected to represent Shotokan-ZA at an International Championship and/or who won a gold medal at the SZA National Championship or another national tournament as approved by the Executive.
Level 2: Junior Full Colours These colours will be awarded to all juniors (under 18) selected to represent Shotokan-ZA at a World Championship.
Level 3: Half Colours These colours will be awarded to seniors (18 and older) selected to represent Shotokan-ZA at an International Championship and/or who won a gold medal at the SZA National Championship or another national tournament as approved by the Executive.
Level 4: Full Colours These colours may be awarded to seniors who have been selected to represent Shotokan-ZA at a World Championship, or members who meritoriously distinguished themselves.
Green SZA Blazers
Green SZA Blazers are awarded to competitors who have competed in a WUKF World Championship.
SZA Merit Awards
Merit awards are given to competitors who excelled in their age group during the year or who meritoriously distinguished themselves.
SZA LeagueTrophies
League trophies are awarded to the competitors who have accumulated the most points in the various age categories, during the year. The leagues are Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire and each leagues has its own winners.
SZA Annual Kata and Kumite Trophies
The Kata and Kumite Trophies are awarded to the best performing competitors in the different age categories during the year.
