Annual Awards 2018

SZA Annual Awards 2018

The 2018 Shotokan-ZA Annual Awards, for the 2017 achievements, took place on Saturday, 24 February 2018 at the SZA Honbu Dojo, Kyalami.

A word from our Chairperson, Sensei Elmarie van Zyl:

“Let me at the outset, welcome our Karateka here who are rewarded for their constant hard work and dedication during the course of 2017. It once again just goes to show that “you reap, what you sow”. Congratulations to all on the awards that you are about to receive.

To our parents, you are most welcome. We appreciate the trust that you place in us to teach your children. I should pause for a moment, and take the time to thank you, because you are an integral and important part of our organisation. Many parents have attended our competitions last year and I say this without hesitation, you are true ambassadors of Shotokan-ZA.

We are still a young organisation, but we have achieved much over the past 2 years. I am especially excited about the fact that we, in our 3rd year of existence, are able to take a team to Scotland to compete in the 7th WUKF World Championships. We wish the team the best of luck.

During the past 2 years, our organisation has shown a steady growth in membership. In the beginning of the year, Sensei Werner Schnetler and his students joined the organisation. Sensei Werner has many years of karate experience, both as a competitor and trainer. His students are well trained and they will contribute positively to our standard of karate. We hope that he and his students will have a fruitful association with SZA.

Finally, I would like to express my appreciation towards all the dojo heads and senior instructors for their loyal and dedicated support that they have afforded this organisation since its inception.”
