This year we held our #100KataChallenge on on 22 Oct 2022, at the Nan Hua Temple (situated in the Cultura Park suburb of Bronkhorstspruit) and in Soweto, Gauteng, South Africa.

All 6 groups (Heian Shodan, Heian Nidan, Heian Sandan, Heian Godan & Tekki Shodan) completed their 100 kata in 1:45min!

We had 86 registered participants, from 10 Dojos, representing 2 Organizations and we had karateka and parents from all ages participate. It was fantastic to see so many students wearing their pink belts in support of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth!!

This year we held our #100KataChallenge on 23 Oct 2021 in Cullinan, Gauteng and also in Mossel Bay, Western Cape!

A big thank you to all the karatekas and parents who came out to join in and who stuck it out despite having to wear masks while doing 100 kata!

We had 113 registered participants, from 18 Dojos, representing 5 Organizations and we had karateka and parents from all ages participate.

We had 5 groups performing Heian Shodan, Heian Nidan, Heian Sandan, Heian Yondan and Heian Godan! Each group successfully performed their kata 99 times, and then everyone did Heian Shodan together for number 100!

Due to COVID-19 restrictions we could not use the beautiful Nan Hua Temple, in Bronkhorstspruit, as the venue for our #100KataChallenge, but we were fortunate to rent the Cullinan Hall on 17 Oct 2020! This was also our 1st year where the #100KataChallenge was not only done in Gauteng, but also in the Mosselbay, Western Cape on 25 Oct 2020!

A big thank you to all the karatekas and parents who came out to join in and who stuck it out despite having to wear masks while doing 100 kata! This was not easy and made the challenge so much more challenging!!

We had 109 registered participants, from 14 Dojos, representing 4 Organizations and we had karateka and parents from all ages participate. From the 14 dojos (clubs), 13 are Gauteng based (and did the challenge on 17 Oct) and 1 dojo is based in Mosselbay (and did the challenge on 25 Oct)!

In Gauteng we managed to do 100 Kata in 1 hour and 20 minutes! We had 4 groups performing Heian Shodan, Heian Nidan, Heian Sandan and Heian Yondan! Each group successfully performed their kata 100 times!

This was our 3rd year hosting the 100 Kata for Karate Day Challenge, an international martial arts event, led from Okinawa, the home of kobudo and karate.

The beautiful Nan Hua Temple, in Bronkhorstspruit, was again the venue for our #100KataChallenge on 26 Oct 2019! A big thank you to all the karatekas and parents who came out to join in and who stuck it out through sun and some rain!

We had 190 registered participants, from 21 Dojos, representing 7 Organizations! The youngest karateka who participated was 4 years old and the oldest karateka who participated was 81 years!

We managed to do 100 Kata in 1 hour and 10 minutes! We had 3 groups performing Heian Shodan, Heian Nidan and Heian Sandan! Each group successfully performed their kata 100 times!

This year were fortunate enough to be able to do our 100 kata challenge at the Nan Hua Temple in Bronkhorstspruit! What a beautiful venue! It made the day very special! A big thank you to all the karatekas and parents who came out to join in!

We had 182 karatekas (14 dojos representing 6 organisations) and parents participating! AGAIN, we are very proud of the all the kids (especially the tiny 4 and 5 year olds) and the parents who stuck out all 100 kata!!! The youngest karateka who participated was 4 years old and the oldest karateka who participated was 80 years!

This year we had two groups, one group doing Heian Shodan and the other group doing Heian Nidan. We managed to complete 100 kata in 1 hour and 20 minutes!

100 Kata for Karate Day Challenge is an international martial arts event, led from Okinawa, the home of kobudo and karate.

We are very proud of the all the kids (especially the tiny 4 year olds) and the parents (who usually do the driving and watching…) who stuck out all 100 kata!!!
