The Shotokan-ZA Team have been participating in online karate competitions, since Sep 2020, due to the physical restraints COVID-19 has placed on live competitions.
We kicked of our team training early Jan 2021 in preparation for the WUKF Afro-Asia Challenge Online Championships, which took place on 31 Jan 2021. Shotokan-ZA entered 17 competitors and of our 17 competitors, 7 placed in the top 10 and 7 took podium spots. Despite this not being a medal event, Our South African team placed 3rd on the 10 Afro-Asia country log.
